Almost 200 hundred photographs, that have been drawn by Pirelli catalog calendar since 1984 to now are exhibit at Palazzo Reale in Milan from the next 21 November. Pictures are organized in 5 themes (set in 5 rooms) which go from seduction to provocation, until myth and elegance. Photos, that legendary photographer like Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindberg, Bruce Weber, Steve McCurry, Patrick Demarchelier and Steve Meisel pass through the meanings of charm.
The outfitting is all played by comparison between the history, symbology, mythology, stage equipment and abstract composition of the changeable significances of sexuality. The reading exhibition could be read really different way. Amedeo M. Turello, one of the curator and photographer him too, suggested looking the exhibition through the glance of the models. How it became more direct than in the past. Nothing special if it isn’t, this photographer have preceding time making an archetype with stereotype. The greatness of Pirelli calendar is that. They have been able to define the way of feel who have translated an image into the universal. It is in this way that said the Pirelli transform the figure of pin-up in an artwork. Elisabetta Guida
